Israel’s Cofix makes Spain debut with Valencia outlet

Cofix has opened its first store in Spain and announced plans to open up to 80 outlets in the western European country.

The value-focused coffee chain currently operates more than 400 stores across Israel, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Kazakhstan, and will enter its seventh market – Armenia – in October 2023.

Cofix said the Valencia outlet will adopt its fixed price model, with beverages priced at five fixed tiers – the cheapest of which is €1.50 ($1.61) and the most expensive €3.50 ($3.75). Additionally, the coffee chain said its menu has been tailored for the Spanish market, including an extended range of cold coffees and mocktails, to attract younger consumers in the early evenings.

Tel Aviv-based Cofix said Spain represents a ‘compelling’ market for the brand due to its ‘unsaturated’ value-focused segment. It is currently seeking master franchisees to open stores in Spain’s largest cities, including Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.

The coffee chain also said its market entry in Spain marks a significant milestone in its European expansion plans. Alongside potential opportunities in France, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia, Cofix is exploring franchise partnerships in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Hungary and Serbia.

Speaking to World Coffee Portal in August 2023, Cofix Global Chief Operating Officer Shaun Lewis reiterated the coffee chain’s objective to be one of the top five largest coffee chains in the world.
